President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, June 17 charged frontline troops in Maiduguri to put in more efforts in the fight against insecurity.
According to the President, there’s still a lot of work to be done in defeating insurgents in the troubled North-East region of the country.
Source learnt that The President made the comment while addressing troops of the Joint Task Force at Maimalari Cantonment parade ground in Maiduguri, Borno state.
In his words, he said, “We should not allow our adversaries or criminal elements undermine our sovereignty.”
“While I commend you, let me tell you that there is still a lot of work to be done in the North East, West and entire country.”
The President also assured the Armed forces of more procurement of state of the art equipment to assist them in defeating the enemies of Nigeria.
The President, it was learnt arrived Maimalari parade ground at about 11:30am, and was welcomed by a combined band of Soldiers and Police. after addressing the troops he went to the clinic where some wounded Soldiers were undergoing treatment.
He spoke with some of them and wished them a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, the Acting Theatre Commander of Hadin Kai counter-insurgency operation, Maj Gen. FO. Omogwui, expressed his gratitude to Mr President, according to him, the visit will boost the morale of the troops.
