Bukuru, in Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State, was thrown into confusion on Monday as rampaging hoodlums destroyed several cars and razed buildings, following an alleged minor skirmish between them and Security Operatives at the Kugiya market.

Trouble started at about 2pm while operatives deployed to the Jos Metropolitan Development Board JMDB went into the locality to implement the Executive order recently signed by the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.

ait.live gathered, that the enforcement team of the JMDB and security operatives were resisted by the irate youths who were armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, which later resorted into violence with some cars and shops of innocent citizens set ablaze.

An eyewitness Ibrahim Pam, while confirming the development to ait.live said over 10 cars were set Ablaze during the enforcement of the Executive Order by the JMDB, along with security agencies, mostly the police and men of the NCSDC and
it took the intervention of the security operative to calm the situation .

It could be recalled that the Governor Caleb Mutfwang had signed an Executive Order to control the illegal erection of buildings and traffic in the state.

The Executive Order No. 003, 2024 became imperative considering the indiscriminate manner in which buildings were being erected and traffic control abysmally degenerated within the Greater Jos Master plan as well as the prevalence of building collapse in the state.

When contacted, the Plateau Police Command through it’s Public Relations Officer DSP Alfred Alabo, said the state Police commissioner has made immediate deployment to trouble area and normalcy has been restored.
