Sunday Igboho; Herdsmen storm community in reprisal attack; two people killed, four missing

Over a week after the Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho visited Ogun State to chase away Fulani herdsmen, the herders are said to have retaliated as 2 suspected herds­men on Thursday, stormed Yewa North Local Government Area of the state, and killed 2 people.

It was  gathered that the 2 persons were identified as Isiaka Apesin and Oguntosin Adebayo. They were found dead at the Owode Ketu- Ijoun-Tata road by villagers.

According to report, the herdsmen laid ambush in the community in the early hours of the day and attacked around 5am.

Also, as of the time of filing this report, 4 persons have been declared missing in Yewa community.

A resident of the village, Mr. Gbenga, who confirmed the tragic incident, told journalists that the 2 villagers were killed in the ambush by the herdsmen.

He said, “Herders laid an ambush for people in my village, Owode-Ketu, around 5am, 2 corpses of locals have been found.”

“Police from Eggua have evacuated the corpses, and they have mobilized their men to comb the bushes, “he said.

Yewa, in Ogun West Sena­torial District of Ogun State, has been under attacks by killer-herdsmen who have laid siege to the communities in the district since the visit of Sunday Igboho.

On Monday, a Farmer, simply identified as Dele Olowoniyi, was hacked to death by suspect­ed Fulani herdsmen while asleep in his farm settlement at Oha village, Imeko, in Ime­ko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Meanwhile, source  has reached out to the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun state command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi for comment on the incident.
