Seven people just released from prison re-arrested by Police for armed robbery


Seven suspects have been arrested in Imo state, over alleged snatching of vehicles, days after they were said to have been released from prison on the same offence.

The suspects were apprehended on 1st February 2021, based on a distress call from Aba, Abia state, informing the command that some hoodlums snatched one LEXUS 350 SUV, with registration No. KSF 758 FS, and were believed to be moving towards Imo state.
They were found with the stolen SUV at the point of arrest.

SP Godson Orlando, the Police Public Relations Officer, Imo State Command confirmed the arrest saying “Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command’s Quick Intervention Team (QUIT) swung into action. Sequel to some painstaking and diligent investigation, the QUIT operatives arrested the suspects.

The suspects are Amador Kenedy, “M” from Imo State, Igilegbe Chinwendu, M, from Enugu State, Nwaorie Moses,”M” from Enugu State, Godfrey Ntosi M, from Delta State, Chinedu Agwu, M, from Abia State, Exe Obinwanne, M, from Imo State and Ejiofor EgweM, from Abia State

It was discovered from interrogations that the suspects were all released from Aba prison after serving their jail term on a similar offence.

They all admitted the crime and confessed their various roles that Amado Kenedy, Igilegbe Chinendu and Nwaorie Moses, are the operational members, whose responsibilities were to snatch the vehicle, while Godfrey Ntosi, Chinedu Agwu, Ejiofor Egwe and Eze Obinwanne who are all artisans, are saddled with the responsibility of rebranding the snatched vehicle, removal of tracking and security devices installed in the vehicle, as well as sales of any such vehicle.

However the PPRO added that the command is making arrangement for the transfer of the suspects to Abia State for further investigations and prosecution accordingly.
