John Nani, a former Commissioner of Environment in Delta State, on Monday, escaped death by the whiskers, as his orderly attached to him was killed by a mobile Policeman.
Source gathered that Nani escaped being shot when his orderly tried to interfere in an argument between his boss and a Policeman allegedly attached to Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc in Sapele, Delta state.
According to an eyewitness, trouble started when a Toyota Hilux van, conveying Seplat staff members, hit Nani’s car from behind at Ajogodo around 7 pm.
It was learnt that Nani came down from his car to check the level of damage done to his vehicle when the Policeman allegedly attacked him.
The eyewitness said the deceased officer, who tried to intervene in the matter was shot in the thigh by the other Police officer.
“The mobile Policeman wanted to shoot Nani, but his orderly threw himself there and took the bullet.”
“He was rushed to hospital, but he couldn’t survive it, “the eyewitness added.
The eyewitness added that the Policeman who killed the officer has been apprehended.
