The men are Samuel Olatobi (22), Bashiru Abdullahi (32), Muasu Useni (25), Ibrahim Mohammed (25) and Suleiman Salisu (30). They are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, burglary, stealing and managing unlawful society.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 21, 2019 at about 10pm at White Sand area, Ijora-Badia, Apapa.
“The defendants conspired with others at large to break and enter into the office of one Maik Momah. They stole trailer engine whose value is not yet ascertained belonging to Momah,” Inedu said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants managed unlawful society.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 307, 287 and 41 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted them N50,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till August 30, 2019 for mention.
