Peoples Democratic Party Chairman dumps Party, defects to APC


The People’s Democractic Party (PDP) has lost its chairman to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) with the defection of the Executive Chairman of Magama Local Government Council of Niger state, Alhaji Safyanu Yahaya.

The PDP before now won election in two Local Government Councils namely; Magama and Gbako Local Goverenment Councils out of the 25 Local Government Councils Niger state.

Magama Local Government chairmans’ action, coming barely one week after the party lost the House of Representatives by-election to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The former PDP chairman’s defection is via a letter to the APC Magama local government area chapter through the council’s APC chairman Ibelu Ward, dated 11th February 2021 and titled, ‘Notice of my decision to join the ruling party, All Progressives Congress’.
