One Person Killed Over Alleged Blasphemy In Bauchi

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed has confirmed the killing of one person simply identified as Usman of Nasaru village in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State over alleged blasphemous comments.

 

A statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Ahmed Wakili said that CP Auwal Mohammed equally condemned the action of jungle justice.

The State declared that the Command is deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident which occurred in Nasaru Village of Ningi local government on the 19th of June, 2024.

CP Auwal Mohammed said information reaching the command indicated that an individual named Usman was involved in sharing information about a new religious movement known as the Fera Movement.

Regrettably, this led to tensions and an altercation, resulting in his being killings.

The Commissioner of Police condemns the actions of the individuals involved and emphasizes the importance of upholding the law.

“The Bauchi State Police Command is committed to stepping up surveillance patrols to ensure the safety and security of all residents”, the statement added.

He emphasized that residents must work hand in hand with law enforcement agencies and refrain from taking matters into their own hands, urging the community to remain calm and go about their daily activities without fear of intimidation, as normalcy has been restored in the affected area.
