Oyo State Police Command on Friday paraded a 35-year-old man, Bolarinwa Segilogbon, for attacking and killing a girlfriend he met on social media, for failing to loan him N2m he requested from her.

The 34-year-old deceased, Amdalat Afeez, who was trading in Ponmo via social media, met Bolarinwa through Facebook and they later became friends. Having met physically five times in Ibadan, the suspect invited her to be linked to a buyer who wanted to make a bulk purchase.

According to the Police Commissioner, Ayodele Sonubi, “on July 7, 2024 at about 0800 hrs, one Ajao Babatunde ‘m’ of No. 48, Ore-Ofe Community, Ologuneru, Ido Road, Ibadan in company of (4) others came to Eleyele Police Station and reported that at about 0600hrs of same date, they found a lifeless body of an unidentified woman lying in the pool of her blood.

“The complainant reported further that at about 0800hrs of the same date, they saw the suspect, Bolarinwa Segilogbon ’m’ covering the blood of the deceased with sand. The suspect was apprehended upon timely information, and upon questioning, has since voluntarily confessed to the crime. The deceased, Amdalat Afeez, 34 years old, sells Ponmo Online.

“The suspect confessed to having met her online demanding a meeting in order to connect her with people interested in making bulk purchases, but instead in a rather disturbing twist of events, he violently took her life when they eventually met”.

Speaking with Sunday Telegraph, Bolarinwa, an aluminium bender of Ilesa, Odun state origin, confessed thus: “I met Amdalat Afeez on the Internet. She was selling ponmo online.

“We were chatting on social media. We were talking as friends, and we were able to meet about five times before that day. I called her to meet me at Oloogbo area of Ido Local Government where I asked her to loan me N2m, but she refused.

“I felt angry and pushed her against an object. She fell down and I hit her with a plank. She was begging me not to kill her, but when I knew that she could later report me, being that she knew my house, and I didn’t want people around to know, I then killed her by hitting her on the head with a block”, he said.

Similarly, the Command paraded three armed robbery suspects, namely: Tajudeen Alabi (35), Taye Bola (25), and Olagunju Olawale (26) for their alleged armed robbery offence.

According to the Police Commissioner, the suspects “on 25th May 2024 at about 0030hrs, some suspected members of a notorious criminal gang who have been terrorizing members of the public in their homes and unsuspecting Hotel lodgers at different locations in Oyo State invaded a Hotel located at Akinmoorin Town via Oyo.

The suspects who were reportedly fully armed with sophisticated firearms, cutlasses and some other dangerous weapons, broke and entered into some of their rooms, and attacked some of their lodgers while equally dispossessing them of their mobile phones, huge sums of money and some other valuable items, including a new Honda Car (AKA Discussion Continues).

“As if that was not enough, the armed robbers forced (2) two of the victims, and asked them to transfer various sums of money into a PALMPAY Account Number.

“The incident was later reported at Jobele Divisional Police Headquarters and at the conclusion of their preliminary investigation, the case file was transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit for further discreet investigation.
