A 32-year-old man identified as Olúwaṣeun Shorinola has tragically took his own life in the Kémta area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The incident which occurred on Wednesday night was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command, adding that it took place at about 10 p.m.

The spokesperson for the Police command, Omolola Odutola who disclosed the details of the incident said the deceased was found by his wife hanging from a wall in their home.

The devastating discovery was reported to the Kémta Police Division by Temitope Oguntade after receiving a call from a family friend, Tajudeen Aremu.

“A team of policemen was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, Shorinola was found dead, with his body hanging against the wall, which shows that the man committed suicide.

“The body was brought down, and the family insisted on taking it away for burial, opting against an autopsy,” Odutola stated.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the authorities are closely monitoring the situation, despite the family’s request to proceed with the burial without an autopsy.

This incident adds to a series of similar tragedies reported in Ogun State earlier this year.
