Insecurity: Bandits Kidnap Over 30 Villagers In Mashegu, Shiroro LGAs

About thirty villagers have been abducted by suspected terrorists in Shiroro and Mashegu Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Niger State.

New Telegraph reports that the recent attacks are coming a few days after Governor Umaru Bago declared the state is now safe, urging the people to return to their villages to start farming.

Confirming the development, the Director-General of Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah said the attacks took place on Sunday and Monday.

According to him “the Agency is in receipt of reports of persistent banditry activities at Shiroro and Mashegu LGAs

“They attacked a village called Adogo Mallam on Sunday, 2nd June 2024, six persons were kidnapped, while on Monday, June 3, 2024, Tunga Kawo communities located 3 kilometres away from Erena of Shiroro LGA was attacked where over 20 persons were kidnapped with hundreds of cows rustled.”

The DG in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, NSEMA, Hussaini Ibrahim said those kidnapped have not be identified as at the time of filing this report.
