Four Farmers Killed In Fresh Attack On Borno Community

26

Four farmers have been killed by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists at a border community of Kerawa in Gwoza local government area of Borno State.

The incident happened on Thursday between 12 and 1 pm while they were working on their farms.

This is coming almost two months after multiple explosions killed over thirty persons in Gwoza town.

Counsellor of Jimini ward, Bukar Aji and chairman of Kerawa community association, Yakubu Ali confirmed the incident on telephone.

Kerawa town is a border town with Cameroon at the Mandara mountains where the terrorists are known to be hiding.

The Divisional Police Officer of Gwoza division while speaking with Channels Television on phone said he is unaware of the development.

He, however, promised to verify the report.

The DPO said the attack could be from Kerawa, Cameroon, and not the Nigerian Kerawa. He added that there was a similar killing some weeks back in Kerawa Cameroon but the populace confused it for the Nigerian Kerawa.

Gwoza was once declared the caliphate of the terrorists when it was captured in 2014 before it was recaptured by troops of the Nigerian military.
