Ekiti State in the early hours of Thursday witnessed another killings as gunmen invaded Ado Ekiti, the state capital and perpetrated 2 killings at different locations.
A popular Point of Sale (PoS) operator identified as Alfa Taofeek was murdered in front of his shop opposite Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).
It would be recalled that some gunmen on motorcycle had on Tuesday this week shot dead a ticket officer of the Okada Riders Association, Omoyajowo Samuel at Okesa Area of Ado Ekiti.
The gunmen reportedly besieged the premises of the shop of the PoS operator with a motorbike and murdered the victim and carted away his valuables.
A source told journalists that “Alfa was just opening his shop after dropping his kids in school when the men of the underworld struck.”
Alfa Taofeek is well known in the area with the display of bread on his vehicle.
His corpse was said to have been deposited at the morgue of the EKSUTH’ by the police.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, DSP Sunday Abutu who confirmed the incident, said investigation had commenced on the matter.
“Immediately we got the information, we mobilised our men to the scene. The man was found lying down in a pool of his blood and was moved to the general hospital where he was confirmed dead.
“His body has been deposited in the mogue. Right now, the Commissioner of Police has ordered investigation into the incident to ensure that the criminals are arrested and brought to justice.”
In a relative vein, a wheel barrow man who hawk rice was also shot died by some gunmen at Bisi market in Ado Ekiti.
The incident reportedly scared traders and passersby who ran for dear lives.
Some of the traders, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that they would not return to the market for now.
The police is yet to speak on the killing of the wheel barrow man as at the time of filling this report.
