The prices of 12-kilogramme cooking gas has fallen from N13,800 to N13,000 when compared with those of May, 2024.
Investigation by New Telegraph yesterday revealed that the cost of refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of gas now costs N13,200 in some parts of Lagos as against N13,800 in May.
Refill of 6kg cylinder of gas now goes for N6,600, while refill of 1kg costs N1,100 as against between N1,150 and N1,200 in May. The prices were confirmed by a gas vendor, who requested not to be named.
An oil and gas sector Analyst, Kehinde Idowu in an interview with New Telegraph said that the development was a welcome development, adding that Nigerians expect more decreases in prices of gas and other commodities.
He stated that the target to reduce the use of charcoal will remain a mirage if alternative sources remain unaffordable. The analyst called on the government and other industry stakeholders to intensify more strategies to achieve more reduction in the prices of cooking gas.
