The Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti and presided over by Justice O.I.O Ogunyemi has convicted and sentenced Enoch Gbinyiam, a pastor of Winner Chapel Church in Omuo-Ekiti, to life imprisonment for rape of a minor.

The survivour which happened to be a daughter of a church member, said that the pastor raped her on one of her visits to the vicarage.

New Telegraph gathered that the innocent rape survivour would frequently visit the mission house to assist the Pastor’s wife with housework, as well as to teach and assist his small children with their school assignments.

During one of her visits to the vicarage, the convict offered her a relaxing bottle of Fanta.

The poor girl drank the Fanta and fell asleep, waking up to find herself bleeding heavily from her vagina.

The convict was apprehended and charged in Court. He was charged with rape under section 2 of the Gender-Based Violence (Prohibition) Law of 2019.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Julius Ajibare, who prosecuted the case on behalf of Ekiti State, summoned four witnesses and presented two exhibits.

Adeyinka Opaleke, the convict’s counsel, testified in his defense and brought one additional witness.

The Honourable Court, in his wisdom, ruled that the Prosecution established the offense of rape against the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt.

As a result, the judge convicted the defendant and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
