A joined security operatives have neutralized a bandit and arrested another during a rescue operation which resulted in the successful rescued of a kidnapped of a Sokoto-based lawyer, Barrister Rukayyat Mustapha from bandits den in Sokoto.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Ali Kaigama disclosed this while parading 10 suspected bandits and 26 kidnapped victims rescued to newsmen in Sokoto on Thursday.
“There is no doubt that the command, leveraging on the support and cooperation of the good people of Sokoto State working assiduously to fight head-on all form of criminalities with remarkable achievements”.
According to him, the FCT Police Command arrested 2 suspects, One Kulu Dogonyaro and One Elizabeth Ojah all residents of Abuja in possession of 5 children, (Four toddlers and a 2 weeks old infant) where other passengers noticed some unusual feeding method instead of breast feeding the infant it was given powdered milk.
On reaching Abuja the driver hurriedly drove to the nearest police station to report the suspicion. While at the station, the suspect claimed that children were willingly given to them by their parents at Sokoto to enable them handover to a Non-Governmental Organization for their up keep and schooling at Abuja.
Both the suspects and the victims were subsequently transferred back to Sokoto for investigation.
Further Investigation revealed that Mrs. Kulu Dogonyaro at one time lived in Sokoto for over 20 years.
Mothers of the first 5 rescued victims were traced and all confirmed knowing Mrs. Kulu in Sokoto.
The mothers are all widows who were deceived to part with their children under the pretence that they will be handed over to an Abuja Based NGO which is willing to shoulder the responsibilities of their welfare and upbringing.
While other children victims were abducted to their way to Islamiyya school.
Furthermore, investigation was extended to some states of the federation where 15 additional children (Victims) were rescued and 2 additional suspects arrested, all suspects arrested stated that they got the children through Mrs. Kulu Dogonyaro who happen to be our principal suspect.
Meanwhile total number of 20 rescued children were handed over to Sokoto State Orphanage home for proper care, so far 10 suspects are arrested.
They include, One Bala Abubakar of Tudun Wada Area Sokoto who gave her a total number of 28 children including 6 of his biological children received in turn the sum of money ranging from N150,000 – N250,000 per child respectively from Kulu and her accomplices.
CP Kaigama recalls that sometimes in 2018, one Danjumma Garba of Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara State and 3 others reported at the State CID Sokoto that One Police Officer by name Abdulnasir Bello confronted him and collected the sum of N420,000, to get them into the Nigeria Police Force, alongside One Salisu Umar Kabiru Danjumma Sulaiman Ummaru all of same address collected the sum of N30,000 from each of them.
On a tip off, Operative of the Sokoto State Police Headquarters confronted One Abdulnasir Bello of Bado Area Sokoto Age 27 years in the Police Headquarters premises, on interrogation the suspect confessed to have been impersonating Police since 2016, parading himself as a DSP and performing illegal duty.
He is also collecting money from parent under the pretence of getting their children recruited into the Police Force during a conduct of search in his residence, the following exhibits were recovered.

Among others all the forged document were designed and printed by one Abdulaziz Shuaib of Bado Area Sokoto Age 29yrs.Who is also under investigation and he is cooperating with the police.
One Mr. John the manager of Ifeoma Hotel Phase 1 Old Airport Area Sokoto reported that a woman identified as Balkisu Garba of Gidan Dare behind Jummat Mosque brought into the Hotel by an Unidentified guest was killed in a hotel room by the same man.
On receipt of the report Police operatives from the Old Airport Division led by the DPO swung into action as result the suspect bag which was abandoned after the act containing some receipts of payment and 3 mobile phone SIM cards were recovered.
These recoveries led to the identification of the suspect as one Saifullah Hassan of Gummi LGA of Zamfara State, which investigation was intensified and the suspect was later traced and arrested in Funtua, Katsina State.
The operatives has arrested suspected bandits who invaded Badon Runji Area Sokoto and kidnapped one Barrister Rukayya Mustapha and One Salim Abdulsalam.
According to him ,the police operatives from Yabo Division in conjunction with Military and Vigilante Group acted on credible information went for rescue operation.
The team went to the scene around Binji axis from where they traced footprints towards a forest. Where the Suspected bandits/kidnappers were traced and routed which resulted to subsequent rescue of three victims, one suspect neutralized and one fatally injured.
While 10 rounds of live ammunition, 2 solar panel, 1 Tecno Mobile phone and blanket were recovered at the scene.
The Commissioner also thank Executive Governor of Sokoto State,Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto,for his support throughout this investigation and the good people of Sokoto State of their continuous cooperation and contributions while the investigation last.
