Unknown gunmen, in the early hours of Wednesday invaded the home of an Imo State lawmaker, Ekene Nnodumele in Ebenato in Awo Idemili, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo state and beheaded a gateman on duty.
The gunmen broke into the home of the lawmaker at about 1am. It was learnt that they set the home of the lawmaker ablaze after their operation.
According to sources, the guard was said to have been overpowered by the gunmen who were numbering about 5. The gateman was said to have attempted to run away from the armed men but they pinned him down, and use a cutlass to chop off his head.
Meanwhile, Ekene who wasn’t at home at the time of the attack expressed disbelief and shock. He said the death of the gateman was indeed a very sad one.
He further appealed to the security agencies to come to the local government area and secure the place, adding that people’s lives are at stake.
“I call on security operatives to strengthen security in Orsu LGA and ensure that lives and property are protected, ” he said.
